Bat Brownies(Adult supervision required. Ages 5+) Ingredients included with kit: 1 package chocolate brownie mix You will need for brownies: 1 egg (or) parchment paper You will need for frosting: 1 Tbsp. warm water 1 Tbsp. softened butter or margarine
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Place oven rack in middle position. Prepare 8x8 pan by coating with cooking spray and lightly dusting with flour. Pan can be lined with parchment paper instead. Melt butter on medium power for 30 seconds. If not melted, allow butter to melt in its own liquid. Reheat in 10 second intervals until melted. Let butter cool. In a medium bowl, combine brownie mix, egg and melted butter. Use wooden spoon to blend by hand for 60 strokes until completely moistened (a great counting exercise for kids!). Pour batter into lightly greased 8x8 pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes at 350ºF until inserted knife comes out clean. While brownies bake, prepare chocolate frosting by adding 1 Tbsp. softened butter or margarine, 1 Tbsp. warm water and frosting mix in small mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 1-2 minutes. If frosting is too thick, add a small amount of water. If frosting is runny, refrigerate to firm. When brownies have cooled, run a knife along the edges of the pan. Turn pan over and use a spatula to help release the 8x8 square of brownies onto wax paper or a cutting board. Use the star cutter to make Starlight Starbright shapes. Make sure to cut the shapes close together, making as many stars as possible. Decorate with chocolate frosting and enjoy!
