Pretzel Recipe

Pretzels can be made in lots of fun shapes. Just use your imagination!

(Adult supervision required.)

Makes between 6-10 servings, depending on shapes.

Ingredients included with kit:

1 package pretzel mix (included)
3.5g yeast

cheese packet

You will need:

3/4 cup lukewarm water
1 T baking soda
2 cups warm water
(for baking soda mixture)
vegetable oil or cooking spray
(for preparing baking sheet)

 

Directions:
Pour 3/4 cup lukewarm water and yeast into a bowl and let stand for 5 minutes to proof. Add mix stir with wooden spoon. Use hands to knead dough until smooth. Cover dough with a towel and let rise for 30 minutes in oiled bowl in a draft-free space. Preheat oven to 400ºF. Divide dough into 6-8 inch equal pieces. Make 18” ropes into pretzels* and dip them in solution of 2 cups water and 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Place them 1 to 2” apart on a lightly oiled baking sheet. Bake 10-15 minutes until browned in 400º F oven.

Finished pretzels may be topped with melted butter and sprinkled with salt or coated with cheese or chocolate sauce. If your kit includes chocolate sauce, see the recipe below.

*Be creative! Make fun pretzel shapes like letters and numbers. Make your initials or your age. Make a flower or a baseball bat shaped pretzel. Whatever shape you make, it will taste delicious!

 

Chocolate Sauce For Hot Pretzels:
1 pkg. chocolate sauce mix (included)

You will need:
1 T water
1 T softened butter

Directions:

While pretzels are baking, prepare the chocolate sauce. In small mixing bowl, add mix, warm water and softened butter. Use electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds. Mix on medium speed for 1-2 minutes until smooth. Add a bit more water and mix longer if you’d like a smoother sauce.
