Pizza Recipe with Yeast(requires adult supervision)
You will need: In a large mixing bowl, add yeast to 1/3 cup warm water and allow to stand for 5 minutes until proofed. The yeast will create a foamy layer on top of the water. This means the yeast is active. Add the pizza crust mix and the vegetable oil and watch as your ingredients form dough! Mix well with a spoon, then knead with your hands until smooth. Place the dough ball into an oiled bowl and cover the bowl with a cloth, allowing the dough to rise for approximately 1 hour until it doubles in volume. Preheat oven to 400º F. Punch down the dough, then place it on a lightly floured surface and flatten out the dough with your hands.* Using your dowel rolling pin, place the pin in the center of the dough and roll in one direction only to the edge of the dough. Pick up the rolling pin, place it back in the center and roll again, continuing in a circle until you have rolled out the entire dough. Once the dough is the desired dimension, place it in the pan(s). Press down the bottom and press the dough to the sides of the pan. Lightly brush the dough with olive oil. Spoon the pizza sauce over the bottom of the dough, then add cheese, veggies, or your other favorite toppings. Bake on the middle rack for about 25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and crust is light brown. Let cool slightly before eating. Remember, pizza sauce stays hot for a long time so be careful! Buon Appetito! *If making two crusts for personal sized pizzas, divide the dough into two.
